Tumeric is native to the Indian subcontinent and Southeast Asia. It is used as a treatment for digestive problems, liver ailments and to clean wounds. Tumeric contains an ingredient called Curcumin, which is a potent anti-inflammatory and a strong antioxidant.
Short-term inflammation helps the body fight foreign invaders and has a role in repairing damaged cells, without inflammation, pathogens like bacteria could easily take over our bodies and kill us.
Although short-term inflammation is beneficial, it can become a major problem if it should become chronic or long term. Chronic, low-level inflammation plays a very big role in almost every chronic disease. This includes heart disease, cancer, metabolic syndrome, Alzheimer’s and other degenerative conditions.
Therefore, anything that can help fight chronic inflammation is of potential importance in preventing and even treating these diseases.
Because Curcumin concentration in turmeric is only 2-3%, it would be beneficial to use a turmeric extract which contains mostly curcumin and because curcumin is poorly absorbed into the bloodstream it would help to take the turmeric extract along with Pepperdine so that it helps with the absorption of curcumin.
