John 10 vs. 12
But a hireling, he who is not the shepherd, one who does not own the sheep, sees the wolf coming and leaves the sheep and flees; and the wolf catches the sheep and scatters them.
The body has 12 systems, the integumentary, skeleton, muscular, immune, lymphatic, cardiovascular, urinary, digestive, respiratory, nervous, endocrine and reproductive systems, and each one runs like a finely tuned machine communicating with one another so that there is no interruption in the business of your day.
When one or more of your systems stall or crash, it dramatically affects the other systems sending them into red alert and taking a tremendous amount of energy and vitality from your life’s core. At the center of it all is your immune system; it is the shepherd of your body. It is responsible for protecting the body from an invasion of diseases and other things such as parasites, bacteria, and viruses, if injury should come to any part of your body, it is the immune system that must bring healing.
The question is, who have you hired to work with your immune system, are you spending a great deal of your treasure hiring chips, pizza, hot dogs, cheeseburgers, french fries, tacos, cigarettes, drugs, alcohol, soda and sugary sweets. So, if so, can you say with certainty that when there is an invasion of some disease, the nutrition from these foods will partner with your immune system to fend off the culprits, or will they take cover in the caves of their empty calories.
Alternatively, jump on a high-fat horse and run for the hills. In truth, these foods have no vested interest in your immune system. Studies have shown that time and time again that the optimum diet for a healthy immune system is steeped in foods that have not been altered from their original state.
Fruits
Packed with free radicals that bind up toxins. Phytochemicals that fight against heart disease, cancer and inflammation, and fiber that helps with digestion.
Nuts
Packed with protein, which builds muscles. Omega three fatty acids which have an anti-inflammatory effect on the body and help lower bad cholesterol and increase the good cholesterol.
Grains
Protect the cell membrane, reduce digestive problems, prevents the buildup of plaque in the arteries and helps to build healthy bones and muscles.
Vegetables
Helps with the normal functioning of cells, builds healthy muscles, fights against infections and strengthens healthy teeth and bones.
These are the foods that you want with you when the wolves come, and they always come. The nutrients that you receive from these foods can work with the immune system to stand up and give a valiant fight toward any illness that tries to overtake the body. You will find that hiring these Shepherds will be the best investment you ever made.
