What Sentence Have You Passed?
Yes, we had the sentence of death in ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves but in God who raises the dead, who delivered us from so great a death, and does deliver us; in whom we trust that He will still deliver us.
2 Corinthians 1:9-10 NKJV
Throughout Paul’s ministry, he had found himself in several precarious situations. He was struck blind on his way to Damascus while persecuting those who espoused the very beliefs he would soon embrace. In the city of Philippi, he had been beaten and thrown into prison, he was shipwrecked on his way to Rome and he was trapped in the riots of Ephesus.
In Asia, his perseverance started to wane. He stated that he was burdened beyond what he could carry. For the first time, in his heart he felt he did not have the endurance to continue.
Are you facing something so terrifying and daunting that you have asked and answered the question? Have you decided that there is absolutely no way you will recover from this situation!
When you arrive at the place where you feel you have no strength, may I suggest that you look outside of yourself. Look to the ONE whose strength never fails, whose knowledge can answer any question no matter how complicated.
Paul survived in Asia because he looked to someone with more authority than himself. May you have the courage to seek your answer from GOD. The only one who has power over life, death, and everything in between. There, you will find that the sentence you passed over yourself is overruled. Like Paul, instead of dying, you will live and be a survivor!
